Job Description We are on the lookout for a talented Operations & Maintenance Field Technician to join our Edmonton office. You will support ATAP by doing a broad range of project work in the delivery of field services. Instrumentation & Controls Technologist
We currently have an opening for an Instrumentation & Controls Technologist in our Saskatoon office. In this position, you will work with engineers, technologists, and support staff to provide instrumentation and controls servicing on a variety of municipal and industrial projects throughout Canada. You will be active in the delivery of servicing to power and automation systems with instrumentation to monitor medium voltage electrical service, water & wastewater process, metering, primary and secondary switchgear, motor control centres, low voltage electrical distributions systems, lighting, fire alarms, and security systems. Projects will include water and wastewater treatment plants, water and wastewater pumping stations, greenhouses, and more. You will visit site as required to perform commissioning activities, inspections, and business development. You will also provide support to other members of our team while working on a variety of projects in a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited, to the following: • PLC and HMI integration from various manufacturers • Onsite commissioning of automation, electrical, and process systems • Inspection of water, wastewater, and other electrical and automation systems • Preparation of drawings using CAD and related software drawing programs • Assisting engineers in broad engineering activities and calculations (i.e. lighting, electrical loads, automation system layouts) • Applying electrical engineering principles and techniques to provide power, controls and automation engineering and design services for a wide variety of industries and clients • Development of process control narratives • Assisting engineers with construction shop drawing reviews • Complying with and working within a COR certified environment • Performing all duties in accordance with those specified under the Occupational Health & Safety Act and applicable legislation Job Requirements What you will bring: • A diploma in Instrumentation or Electrical Technology or similar applicable program from an accredited technical college • 1-3 years of experience, gained in an academic or workplace setting • Basic knowledge of control system design, including process control narratives, P&IDs, PLC panels, I/O lists, communication networks, and I/O wiring diagrams • Knowledge of basic electrical engineering design, including MCCs, power and lighting panels, single line diagrams, lighting schedules and layouts • Proficiency in using Autodesk software, including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and Revit • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite products • Strong written communication skills • Strong oral communication skills • Excellent attention to detail • Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills • Results oriented • Committed team player • Possess a valid class 5 driver's license • Available for occasional work outside of normal working hours, including overtime • Available to travel within Canada Everyone has their own unique talents, skills, and background.
