Small Water Systems


Service Description

Designed for all Water Plant and/or Distribution System Operators not currently certified and who work in a system designated for "Small Water System" operator certification. Please contact your regional Water Security Agency Environmental Officer if you are unsure if your system qualifies for this certification. This course offers: • Preparation to write the Saskatchewan Small Water System Certification Exam (Also termed "Very Small Water System" Certification Exam) • Examination session provided on the 5th day • Introduction – Legislation & Water Quality Objectives for Small Water Systems • Safety – Plant & Distribution Works • Basic Technical Skills including Extensive Math/Science Practice • Support Systems • Administration • Water Treatment (Principles/Equipment) - (Ground Water, Small WTP O&M & Disinfection, Sampling and Laboratory Procedures) • Water Distribution (Principles/Equipment) The course includes four days of instruction, manual, printed course materials and quizzes, and the course exam ( 1 exam written on morning of day 5). PREREQUISITES Basic understanding of water treatment and water distribution system principals, practices and terminology as well as basic mathematic skills. NOTE: Grade 10 is required for Small Water System Certification certification applications to the Operator Certification Board of Saskatchewan (www.saskocb.ca). Please check the OCB website for more information on the requirements for Small Water System operator certification. If you are unsure if your system allows oversight with Small Water System certification, please contact your system’s Water Security Agency Environmental Officer. Instruction 8:30am - 4:30pm each day (Mon. - Thu). Exam begins at 8:15am on Friday in same room. Only SK Certification exam is available with this course. Venue in Prince Albert to be announced. NOTE! The course plus one exam (Small Water System exam) is the standard registration for this course.

Please ensure that any email spam/junk filters are not blocking these emails. If you do not receive any emails after booking, please call ATAP at 306-244-8828. CANCELLATION POLICY: If the registrant cancels two weeks before a workshop/course or earlier, they are eligible for a full refund. Within two weeks of the start of the course/workshop, no refunds for cancellations are available unless ATAP cancels the training. The registrant who cancels in the two weeks prior to the start date will, however, have a credit that can be held for up to 1 year. Students who are absent, without informing ATAP of that absence prior to the course start, will receive a credit, which may be held up to 1 year, but are not eligible for a refund. Exam cancellations during a course: registrants must indicate at the time of registration (whether online or by telephone), the course exams they are writing (both, one, none). No credits or refunds will be available for exam cancellations once the course has begun. No examinations can be added during the course.
