    Regina: CEU Accredited Workshops

    2019
    May 1

    This Course Offers

Hydrants are a critical part of a community’s distribution system and firefighting system. An operational understanding is required for fire fighters, street cleaners and water distribution operators. Safe operation of hydrants is emphasized, with special consideration to preventing water hammer. This workshop provides distribution operators an understanding of the impact of hydrant operation on the distribution system, and the role hydrants play not only for firefighting, but also for distribution system maintenance (such as in water main swabbing). A community may have a collection of various hydrants from many different eras and a detailed understanding of maintenance is required for extending the lifetime of any given hydrant. This full-day workshop provides operational and maintenance theory in the morning and a practical session with hands-on learning in the afternoon.

    Course Leaders

Josh Buniak, Operation and Maintenance Technician, has over 15 years of combined operational experience in the public works and mechanical technology fields. He provides multiple technical field services such as reservoir cleaning and inspection, uni-directional flushing, swabbing, maintenance repairs and condition assessments for ATAP’s clients.

Phil Beaulac, Water & Wastewater Systems Specialist, has over 10 years of industrial maintenance experience including 6 years of water and wastewater operations which involved being the lead certified operator of a municipal Reverse Osmosis (RO) water filtration system.
